Above is TDS of Petrol Tape
Non-woven, stitch-bonded, synthetic fabric carrier, fully saturated and coated with a neutral petrolatum compound blended with inert fillers and corrosion inhibitors.
For long-life corrosion protection, sealing and waterproofing of atmospheric buried and submerged metal surfaces. The high degree of conformability allows for application over irregular surface profiles including gas utility, sewer, potable water, mining, and wastewater applications.
Petro-Tape is stable in composition and plasticity
over a wide temperature range. It is non-hardening and
non- cracking, which accommodates vibrations and
extreme movement of the substrate. Petro-Tape is
non-toxic, non-flammable with high dielectric strength and highly resistant to mineral acids, alkalis and salts.
Spirally wrapped using a minimum 55% overlap for all applications, For vertical applications the tape shall begin at the bottom and proceed up – providing a“weatherboard” overlap.
May apply longitudinally (i.e., “cigarette wrapped”) when space is too restricted or confined to apply in the preferred spiral manner, with the overlap on the topside of the pipe –providing a “weatherboard” effect.
At the completion of each roll, smooth the overlaps by hand. Maintain a 100mm overlap when overlapping one roll with the end of a new .
Petro-Mastic (Yellow LT Profiling )
Molding or filling on irregular or uneven surfaces
Petro – Mastic(Yellow Profiling Mastic) is a yellow cold applied self-supporting molding mastic. It is a petrolatum compound containing beads of closed cell cellular polymer and additives.
This mastic is used to make a smooth profile on irregular shaped fittings such as flanged joints and valves. It is applied prior to the tape application and generally used in conjunction with primer, Petrolatum Tapes
Characteristics
Easy application from cold to hot temperatures
Excellent molding and sealing properties
No VOCs
Not effected by water, acids and salts, stable and reliable
Non-hardening in cold weather
Minimal surface preparation (SSPC SP 2-3)
Installation:Prepare surfaces by removing all loose scale, rust or other foreign matter in accordance to SSPC SP2 or SP3 , After Applying a thin coat of primer to the surface. Then, by hand application, mold the mastic to a rounded confi- guration to fill irregular shapes or holes and reduce sharp edged surfaces .
